7 powerful ways entrepreneurs boost their energy and create motivation
Get more than enough sleep
Getting the amount of sleep that allows you to function at your highest level is the biggest factor in how much you’ll be able to accomplish the next day.
Yet for so many of us, sleep is the first thing we sacrifice on the altar of a giant to do list.
It’s completely counter intuitive.
When you’ve got highly important priorities that need to get done, sleep can seem like a waste of time. But, trust me, and every other person that’s ever experienced burnout or been hospitalized due to the stress of overworking and the toll it takes on your body… your sleep is critical. Not only to avoid serious illnesses, but to just have the goddamn energy to think creatively, solve challenges, manage your team, serve your people, and get to all of those fun projects that are on your list.
If you want to be a high energy level entrepreneur and figure out how to have more energy and motivation to accomplish your wildest life and business goals, getting the proper amount of sleep for you is essential.

The right amount might be 4-6 hours or it might be 10-12 hours, it doesn’t matter. But determining how much sleep you need to have high energy levels the next day is so important.
Start paying attention to the days you feel most energized and note how many hours of sleep you got the night before.
Then, make getting enough sleep a non negotiable priority in your life and business. You will see immediate improvements in your high energy levels as an entrepreneur and a direct impact on how much you will accomplish in your business.
Move your freaking body
Successful entrepreneurs around the world start their days by moving their bodies.
The endorphins released through a good workout set you up for success right off the bat: They put you in a good mood, give you high energy levels, and keep you motivated.

If you want to get more done in a day, make exercise a part of your morning routine. Start your day off feeling like a bad*ss.
If mornings aren’t your favorite time to workout, that’s absolutely fine: carve out thirty minutes somewhere else to boost your energy levels. This could be at lunch time to break up your day, or as a transition period into your home life.
Regardless of how it looks for you, exercising daily will help you become a high energy level entrepreneur and create more motivation every single day.
If you’re feeling busy and overwhelmed, adding a workout can seem like just another thing on your list. And yet it’s the very thing that helps overwhelmed entrepreneurs take back control of how they feel and run their business with high energy levels and motivation.’
The next time you feel your energy dropping, instead of pushing through the next item on your to do list, take 30 minutes to move your body and notice the immediate impact of that decision on your energy levels and motivation.
Eat all your goddamn meals
I get it. You’re busy. Taking 20 minutes to chop up a salad for lunch can seem like the last thing you have time for.
But giving your body the nourishment it needs to sustain the energy required to achieve your big goals is pretty freaking important.
In a culture that glorifies “busy”, taking an actual lunch break and eating good food instead of fast food can seem like an indulgence.
It’s not. It’s a basic necessity.
If you want to be a high energy level entrepreneur and take your success to the next level, eat all your goddamn meals.
You can make this easier for yourself by deciding what they are ahead of time and having some healthy snacks prepared so that you can just grab and go.
But the bottom line is that you should definitely not be skipping breakfast, lunch, or dinner because you’re just “too busy”.
Get outside
Getting out for fresh air and some sun on your face is one of the best ways to stay energized throughout the day. Studies show that it literally reduces stress, lowers cortisol levels, reduces muscle tension, and lowers your heart rate.
If you’re feeling low energy, unproductive, or unmotivated, getting outside is a much more effective way to increase your energy levels as an entrepreneur than “pushing through.”
I take a walk with my Bernese Mountain Dog every. single. day. Sometimes it’s just 12 minutes around the block, more often it’s 60-90 mins in the park.
As soon as I hear my brain say “you can’t take a walk, there’s too much to do”, I recognize the self sabotage and force myself out the door.
This becomes easier to do once you can feel the difference between the days you do get outside and the days you don’t. Eventually it makes no sense not to.
Successful entrepreneurs prioritize getting outside every single day and it’s an important high performance habit.
So, if you’re trying to figure out how to have more energy and motivation as an entrepreneur, getting outside (even if it’s just for 5 minutes) is a powerful habit to help you become a high energy level entrepreneur.
Start your day with a kick*ss morning routine
How you begin your day dictates how you’re going to feel the rest of your day.
If you hit snooze 12 times, then check your email, and grumble about life while pouring yourself a coffee, you’re not going to have the high energy levels or motivation to accomplish your biggest goals as an entrepreneur.
Successful entrepreneurs around the world start their days with a powerful morning routine. It is a common high performance habit.
Maybe your routine includes a cold shower, a walk, and 20 mins reading an inspiring book. Maybe it includes a strength training workout, 20 minutes of journaling, and reviewing your goals. Figure out the exact activities that give you high energy levels as an entrepreneur and allow you to kick off your day in the right headspace, then do them consistently.

Schedule Things That Bring You Joy
Whether it’s a sport you love to play, a hobby you never seem to make time for, or something small, like watching the sunset… making time for things that bring you joy is important, especially for ambitious entrepreneurs.
It’s too easy to get caught in the go-go-go mentality and prioritize your big goals so much that you forget to live the small moments of your life.
When you build moments of joy into your day to day life and prioritize them as much as growing your business, the latter happens naturally because you’ve got the high energy levels and motivation to keep doing hard things.
This does not happen if you neglect taking the time to do the things you love.

For many entrepreneurs, the whole reason you got into running your own business is to have more time to do the things that you love. Yet you might find yourself in a pattern of sacrificing the things you love in order to grow your business. That’s a dangerous and unfulfilling place to be.
Make a list of 5-10 things that bring you joy, right now.
Then schedule one thing a day over the next week and see the impact it has on how you feel and the ease you experience in running and growing your business.
Establish & Uphold Clear Work Hours
High energy level entrepreneurs have clear boundaries between work and play. This can feel challenging, especially when you’re passionate about what you do and it doesn’t necessarily feel like “work”.
However, creating regular periods of uninterrupted play is just as important as creating regular periods of uninterrupted focus time.
Unplugging from your business and being fully present when you’re with your family, friends, or even with yourself is so important to help you create more energy and motivation.
When your head is constantly filled with all things business, you eventually work yourself into a state of overwhelm and frustration. When you take a step back to enjoy yourself and live your life, you create more inspiration and creativity to solve complex challenges in business and create incredible impact and growth.

You don’t have to work “9 to 5” in your business to have clear boundaries. In fact, leveraging your natural energy levels will help you get more done in less time. But, being fully present when you’re working, and then being fully disconnected from your business when you’re not (and this includes the thoughts in your head!) is important to maintaining high energy levels as an entrepreneur.
If you’re currently feeling unmotivated in your business, you probably don’t need to “push through”. Try taking a step back and creating space for the things you truly love.
The high energy levels and motivation will naturally come back to you, trust me.
